A dental apparatus and method for referencing a patients facial and oral cavity measurements as well as the incisal horizontal plane of the anterior teeth . A apparatus that includes a horizontal midline measurement bar that attaches to the labial surface of lower anterior teeth and is orientated to align with the incisal horizontal plane and midline of anterior maxillary teeth and which readily accepts reference markings and measurements from the facial and oral cavity that are to be used later in the fabrication process of restorations. The midline measurement bar is then transferred with a transfer device, to the dental maxilla or mandibular working casts of the patient. The midline measurement bar is then able to rotate towards or away from the area on the maxilla or mandibular cast being restored allowing the technician to fabricate fixed and removable restorations while having a constant reading of the facial and oral cavity.
