A system and method for selectively treating a ventricular tachycardia based on sensed atrial and ventricular intervals from the patient's heart. A detection window of the ten most recent atrial and ventricular intervals are analyzed for the occurrence of either tachycardia or fibrillation. When a majority of the sensed intervals are satisfied, the apparatus starts a duration time interval. Ventricular intervals and atrial intervals are compared if the ventricular interval is greater than the atrial interval by a bias factor the system delivers tachycardia therapy to the heart. Alternatively, the method withholds tachycardia therapy to the heart when the atrial rate is classified as atrial fibrillation and the ventricular response is unstable.
Cette invention se rapporte à un système et à un procédé permettant de traiter sélectivement une tachycardie ventriculaire sur la base de la détection des intervalles auriculaires et ventriculaires du coeur du patient. Une fenêtre de détection desdits intervalles ventriculaires et auriculaires les plus récents est analysée pour déterminer l'existence soit d'une tachycardie soit d'une fibrillation. Lorsqu'une majorité des intervalles détectés est satisfaite, l'appareil initialise un intervalle de durée. Les intervalles ventriculaires et les intervalles auriculaires sont comparés et si l'intervalle ventriculaire est supérieur à l'intervalle auriculaire par un facteur de sollicitation, alors le système applique une thérapie anti-tachycardie au coeur du patient. Sinon, le procédé interrompt la thérapie anti-tachycardie appliquée au coeur du patient, lorsque le rytme auriculaire est classé comme fibrillation auriculaire et que la réponse ventriculaire est instable.
