A method and apparatus for measuring a volume of a wound are described, the method comprising the steps of: applying a dressing over a wound, the volume of which is to be measured, the dressing including at least a sealing drape over the wound so as to create a sealed wound cavity; creating a vacuum in said wound cavity by vacuum pump means so as to produce a predetermined vacuum in the wound cavity; measuring a volume of air extracted from said wound cavity in producing said predetermined vacuum; and, calculating a volume of said wound.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de mesurer le volume d'une plaie. Ledit procédé comprend les étapes suivantes : application d'un pansement sur une plaie dont le volume doit être mesuré, ledit pansement incluant au moins un champ stérile situé sur la plaie de manière à créer une cavité de plaie fermée hermétiquement ; création d'un vide dans ladite cavité de plaie au moyen d'une pompe à vide de manière à produire un vide prédéterminé dans la cavité de plaie ; mesure du volume d'air extrait de ladite cavité de plaie après création dudit vide prédéterminé ; et calcul du volume de ladite plaie.
