Sample component separation apparatus and methods are described. An exemplary sample component separation apparatus includes a separation channel having a turn portion configured to reduce band-broadening caused by passage of a sample through the turn portion. To reduce band broadening caused by passage of a sample through a turn portion, the turn portion may be constructed and arranged to have a sample transport characteristic that is different from the corresponding sample transport characteristic of a substantially straight portion of the separation channel.

L'invention concerne un appareil et des procédés de séparation des composés d'un échantillon. Selon l'invention, un appareil de séparation de composés d'échantillon comprend un canal de séparation pourvu d'une partie courbe conçue pour diminuer l'élargissement de bandes occasionné par le passage d'un échantillon à travers ladite partie courbe. En vue de diminuer cet élargissement de bandes, la partie courbe peut être construite et disposée de manière à avoir une caractéristique de transport d'échantillon différente de la caractéristique de transport d'échantillon correspondante d'une partie quasiment droite du canal de séparation.
