A method is disclosed for constructing and managing a database to permit an organization of employee or customers renters to analyze vehicle transaction information. The method comprises the steps of inputting to the database a plurality of files. Each file defines a vehicle rental transaction and includes a parameter indicative of the vehicle rental location in terms of a plurality of geographical divisions of different granularity and a parameter indicative of an attribute of its vehicle rental transaction. The organization is permitted to select the granularity of the geographic division and to identify the vehicle rental transactions originating from the geographic division of selected granularity. The parameter is collected from all of the identified vehicle rental transactions to provide an indication of the collected parameter from all of the rental locations within the geographic divisions of the selected granularity. The geographic divisions include selected of street addresses, cities, states, provinces, countries and combinations of countries. The second parameter may comprise selected of expenditures involved in the rental transaction, the method of payment, the duration of the rental, the date of the rental and the affiliated organization of the renter.
L'invention concerne un procédé servant à élaborer et à gérer une base de données afin de permettre à une organisation composée de loueurs employés ou clients d'analyser des informations concernant des transactions sur des véhicules. Ce procédé consiste à entrer dans la base de données une pluralité de fichiers. Chaque fichier définit une transaction de location de véhicule et comprend un paramètre indiquant la localisation de la location de véhicule en termes d'une pluralité de divisions géographiques présentant une granularité différente et un paramètre indiquant un attribut de la transaction de location de ce véhicule. L'organisation a l'autorisation de sélectionner la granularité de la division géographique et d'identifier les transactions de location de véhicule provenant de la division géographique présentant la granularité sélectionnée. Ce paramètre est recueilli dans la totalité des transactions identifiées de location de véhicule, de manière à fournir une indication du paramètre recueilli à partir de la totalité des localisations de location à l'intérieur des divisions géographiques présentant la granularité sélectionnée. Ces divisions géographiques comprennent des adresses de rue sélectionnées, des villes, des états, des provinces, des pays, ainsi que des combinaisons de pays. Le deuxième paramètre peut être composé d'éléments sélectionnés parmi les dépenses impliquées dans la transaction de location, le procédé de règlement, la durée de la location, la date de la location et l'organisation affiliée du loueur.
