Apparatus and methods are provided for mass production of transmission holograms onto a continuous web (30) of photosensitive material, one method involving the mounting of a master transmission hologram (34) onto the outside surface of a clear hollow drum (20), the clear hollow drum being rotatable and having means (24) for directing an irradiating wavefront propagated from a radiation source (70) through the master transmission hologram (34) onto a passing recording medium (30) in a predetermined direction, the directing means (24) configured so that said predetermined direct on is fixedly maintainable independent of the rotation of the hollow drum (20) and the master transmission hologram (34) mounted thereon. The redirected irradiating wavefront transmitted through the master transmission hologram (34) generates an object beam and a "zero order" reference beam, said object beam and "zero order" reference beam combine to form an interference pattern, the interference pattern being recorded on the photosensitive recording medium (30).
Appareil et techniques de production en série d'hologrammes de transmission sur une bande continue (30) de matériau photosensible. Une de ces techniques consiste à monter un hologramme de transmission maître (34) sur la surface extérieure d'un tambour creux transparent (20) et rotatif comportant un dispositif (24) qui permet d'orienter vers un support d'enregistrement passant (30), dans une direction prédéterminée, une surface d'onde rayonnante émanant d'une source de rayonnement (70) et traversant l'hologramme de transmission maître. Le dispositif (24) est conçu de telle façon que cette direction prédéterminée puisse être fixée indépendamment de la rotation du tambour creux (20) et de l'hologramme de transmission maître (34) monté sur celui-ci. La surface d'onde rayonnante réorientée qui traverse l'hologramme de transmission maître (34) donne naissance à un faisceau objet et à un faisceau de référence "d'ordre zéro" qui se combinent pour former un diagramme d'interférence qui s'enregistre sur le support d'enregistrement photosensible (30).
