An apparatus for sealing a passage through tissue includes a tubular member, a plug (412), and a locator member (416). The plug is disposed on a distal end of the tubular member and includes an external thread (418). The locator member is inserted into a lumen of the tubular member until a distal portion is disposed beyond the plug. The distal portion includes a helically wound wire and a tether coupled to the wire that is movable for causing the wire to buckle. To seal a passage communicating with a blood vessel, the distal portion of the locator member is inserted into the passage, and the plug is threaded into the passage until the distal portion extends into the vessel. The tether is pulled to buckle the wire, and the plug is unthreaded until the buckled wire contacts a wall of the vessel, whereupon the plug is released to seal the passage.
L'invention concerne un dispositif permettant de sceller un passage ménagé dans un tissu. Le dispositif décrit dans cette invention comprend un élément tubulaire, un obturateur (412), et un élément de localisation (416). L'obturateur est placé sur une extrémité distale de l'élément tubulaire et il comprend un filetage extérieur (418). L'élément de localisation est inséré dans un orifice de l'élément tubulaire jusqu'à ce qu'une portion distale soit placée en dehors de l'obturateur. La portion distale comprend un fil à bobinage hélicoïdal et un câble d'attache relié au fil et pouvant être déplacé afin de provoquer le fléchissement du fil. Afin de sceller un passage communiquant avec un vaisseau sanguin, la portion distale de l'élément de localisation est insérée dans le passage, puis, l'obturateur est introduit par filetage dans ce même passage jusqu'à ce que la portion distale s'étende dans le vaisseau. Le câble d'attache est tiré de manière fléchir le fil, et l'obturateur est retiré par filetage jusqu'à ce que le fil fléchi entre en contact avec une paroi du vaisseau, l'obturateur est alors retiré de manière à sceller le passage.
