Apparatus to align a closure member and a valve stem for use with valve are described. An example valve includes a stem (204) and a closure member (202)having a first aperture (214) to receive at least a portion of the stem. The example valve further includes a positioning member (205) that has a first portion (224) and a second portion (230). The first portion has a first cross-section and the second portion has a second cross-section that is greater than the first cross- section ann area between the first portion and the second portion forms a positioning surface to engage the first aperture of the closure member to align the stem and the closure member. A fastening member (206) couples the stem to the closure member.
