The present invention concerns an apparatus and a process for cleaning polluted ground material which is finely divided in a first step and heat-treated in a second step. The apparatus for cleaning polluted ground material has a pre-dividing device (4 5, 6) and a heat treatment station. To provide an apparatus and a process of the above-indicated kind which permit highly efficient removal of volatile substances from the ground material at a comparatively low energy consumption and at low cost it is proposed in accordance with the invention that in regard to the process the ground material is heated in the second step without contact with an open flame by way of heat exchangers to a temperature above the boiling temperature of water and below a temperature of 400°C and then the heated fine-grain ground material is exposed to hot, possibly superheated steam which removes the volatile constituents from the ground material grain. In regard to the apparatus it is proposed that the heat treatment station is an evaporator (10) at which there are provided heating devices (21, 11) circulating and conveying devices (11) and at a spacing from an intake of material into the evaporator (10) a steam feed device (12) for the feed of steam which is heated above the water condensation temperature to the ground material which is also heated in that region above the condensation temperature.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé pour le nettoyage de terres polluées qui sont broyées dans une première opération et soumises à un traitement thermique dans une deuxième opération. Le dispositif selon l'invention comprend une installation de broyage préliminaire (4, 5, 6) et une station de traitement thermique. Pour que le dispositif et le procédé du type susmentionné permettent une élimination très efficace des substances volatiles de la terre avec une consommation d'énergie relativement faible et un coût modéré, il est proposé, en ce qui concerne le procédé, que la terre soit chaufée, dans la deuxième opération, sans contact avec une flamme nue, par l'intermédiaire d'échangeurs de chaleur, à une température située au dessus du point d'ébullition de l'eau et au-dessous de 400 DEG C, et qu'ensuite la terre chauffée et finement broyée soit éventuellement exposée à une vapeur d'eau surchauffée qui dissolve les composants volatils dans les particules de terre. En ce qui concerne le dispositif, il es proposé que la station de traitement thermique soit un évaporateur (10) au niveau duquel soient prévus des sytèmes de chauffage (21, 11), des systèmes de circulation et de transport (11) ainsi qu'un système d'alimentation en vapeur (12) espacé par rapport à l'entrée de la terre dans l'évaporateur (10) pour diriger de la vapeur d'eau chauffée au-delà de la température de condensation de l'eau jusqu'à la terre également chauffée dans cette zone au-delà de la température de condensation.
