An apparatus and process for imprinting a web. A Yankee drum (70) and pressure roll (35) are juxtaposed to form a nip. An imprinting member (30), such as through air drying belt or other patterning belt is interposed in the nip. A felt (60) is also interposed in the nip, contacting the backside of the imprinting member. The imprinting member carries a paper web (32). The paper web is imprinted in the nip and simultaneously transferred to the Yankee drying drum. The nip may be formed with a vacuum roll juxtaposed with the felt. The vacuum roll may remove water from the felt and hence the web. The present invention provides structured paper having regions of different density, calliper, crepe and/or amplitude. The process of the present invention provides improved flexibility in the manufacturing process.
Cette invention se rapporte à un appareil et à un procédé servant à l'impression de bandes continues. A cet effet, un tambour sécheur de type Yankee (70) et un rouleau de pression (35) sont placés côte à côte de façon à former une pince. Un élément d'impression (30), tel qu'une courroie sécheuse à air traversant ou tout autre courroie de formation de motifs, est placé dans l'espace formé par la pince. Un feutre (60) est également placé dans l'espace formé par la pince, en contact avec la face arrière de l'élément d'impression. L'élément d'impression porte une bande de papier continue (32). La bande de papier continue est imprimée dans la pince et transférée en même temps sur le tambour sécheur de type Yankee. La pince peut être conçue avec un rouleau à vide d'air adjacent au feutre. Le rouleau à vide d'air peut servir à aspirer l'eau du feutre et, partant, de la bande continue.
