An apparatus and process are used to make a ready-to-apply tape from greige fabric. This tape can be used as cap plies, breakers and reinforcement in the carcass of tires. The tape is made by dipping a greige mini-fabric which comprises a plurality of single end cords in a solvent-based cement. The cement, which comprises solvent and an elastomeric composition, is dried so that the majority of the solvent evaporates. The elastomeric composition remains, encapsulating the fabric, thereby forming the tape.
L'invention porte sur un appareil et un procédé de fabrication d'un ruban de tissu écru prêt à poser pouvant servir de pli supérieur, de nappe amortissante et de renforts, de la carcasse d'un pneumatique. Ledit ruban s'obtient en plongeant une toile de tissu écru présentant une série de câbles dans une dissolution à base de solvant comprenant un solvant et un élastomère que l'on fait sécher jusqu'à évaporation de la majeure partie du solvant. La composition d'élastomère restant enrobe le tissu formant ainsi le ruban.
