An apparatus or system for containing oil and the like floating on the surface of a body of water, comprising a relatively elongate channel defined by two side-defining faces (3, 4) that diverge from one another from a narrow inner end to a wider opening, the channel being movable such as by towing with the aid of one or more vessels, which apparatus is made of non-rigid materials. The apparatus comprises a tapered channel portion (1) between the two side- defining faces (3, 4), a wedge-shaped structure (7) and a collecting means or separator (2), wherein the tapered channel portion (1), the wedge-shaped structure (7) and the separator (2) are arranged one after the other as interconnected or integrated units, thereby forming a continuous "hull" having freeboard (12), and longitudinal towing devices (5, 6) are provided that are fastened to the units (1, 7, 2), the said towing devices (5, 6) and thus the towing forces intersecting in an area at the rear end of the wedge-shaped structure (7) seen in the towing direction.

L'invention concerne un appareil ou un système de confinement d'hydrocarbures ou analogues flottant sur la surface d'un plan d'eau, qui consiste en un canal relativement allongé défini par deux faces latérales (3, 4) qui divergent l'une de l'autre, d'une extrémité intérieure étroite à une ouverture plus large, le canal se déplaçant, par exemple, par remorquage, à l'aide d'au moins un bateau. L'appareil, fait de matériaux non rigides, comprend une partie canal conique (1) entre les deux faces latérales (3, 4), une structure en biseau (7) et un moyen collecteur ou un séparateur (2). La partie canal conique (1), la structure en biseau (7) et le séparateur (2), disposés l'un après l'autre en tant qu'unités interconnectées ou solidaires, forment ainsi une "coque" continue ayant un franc-bord (12). Des dispositifs de remorquage longitudinaux (5, 6) sont en outre fixés à ces unités (1, 7, 2). Ces dispositifs de remorquage (5, 6) et, par conséquent, les forces de remorquage, se croisent dans une zone à l'extrémité arrière de la structure en biseau (7) vue dans le sens du remorquage.
