An electrically driven apparatus, for example a vacuum cleaner with "boost" function is described, which boost function is switched off and blocked dependent on the temperature detected by a sensor arranged proximate to the motor. This provides the possibility of maximum use of the boost function without the risk of the motor or the apparatus being damaged. (no Figure.)
