A device for a paper-making installation has at least one wire belt, which installation has supporting or scraping elements of ceramic material spaced from one another in the direction of movement of the wire belt for supporting the wire belt or scraping off the water emerging from the paper pulp or paper strip located on the wire belt and passing through it. The wire belt comes to rest on the upper sides of these elements. In the invention, there is a load-bearing frame which corresponds in width to the width of the wire belt. The frame has load-bearing strips, on which supporting or scraping elements are fixed. These elements are located spacedly next to one another. The spaces between the supporting or scraping elements form passage channels for the water emerging from the paper pulp or paper strip or for the air sucked through the wire belt. This arrangement provides adequate support for the wire belt while allowing very effective application of vacuum to the wire belt.
