An apparatus and method for mounting a leaf spring suspension system to a vehicle or other suspended structure is provided comprising three spring pins, two shackles, four wear washers, and four fastening bolts, wherein one spring pin and two fastening bolts mount and secure a first end of the leaf spring suspension system to the vehicle and two spring pins, two shackles, and two fastening bolts mount and secure a second end of the leaf spring suspension system to the vehicle. Each spring pin has a cylindrical center portion and two flattened ends with a transverse hole through each flattened end. Each shackle has a central body portion, two open- ended U-shaped portions on opposite ends of the central body portion, and a cylindrical hole passing through a longitudinal axis of the shackle. The first end of the leaf spring suspension system is mounted and secured by aligning one spring pin inside a loop at the first end of the leaf spring and threading one fastening bolt through each transverse hole in the respective flattened ends of the spring pin and through a corresponding hole in the frame of the vehicle. The second end of the leaf spring suspension system is mounted and secured by first aligning one spring pin inside a loop at the second end of the leaf spring and aligning one spring pin through a parallel cylindrical hole through the frame of the vehicle. One shackle is then oriented on each side of the leaf spring such that each shackle is located between and seats the spring pin rotatably attached to the leaf spring and the spring rotatably attached to the frame of the vehicle. With the spring pins seated in the open-ended U-shaped portions of the shackles, one fastening bolt is threaded through each shackle and the corresponding seated spring pins. Washers are located between the shackles and the leaf spring, as well as between the shackles and the suspension bracket, the washers being made of a material having a hardness less than that of an adjacent component.
