ABSTRACT Apparatus is provided for aligning with an edge of a tubular or semitubular plastic web a wicketer stacking station comprising transfer arms, which are mounted for rotation about an axis and serve to take over bags, which have been severed from a tubular or semitubular plastic web and closed by a seam weld. Said arms are adapted to thread the bags formed with punched locating holes onto respective pairs of stacking pins provided on intermittently driven tensile means of an endless conveyor which constitutes a stacking line, whereby stacks are formed. Said apparatus comprising means for sensing the position of said edge of the web and an actuator for transversely displacing the wicketer stacking station in dependence on the measured deviation of said edge. In order to permit a simple and sensitive adjustment of the wicketer stacking station in response to a deviation of the web, the wicketer frame, in which the transfer arms are rotatably mounted, is provided with at least one transverse rail, which is supported on rollers or sliding surfaces of a carrying frame. The wicketer frame is connected by a beam to an end frame, which receives the receiving end of the stacking line and is supported on a base frame and is longitudinally displace- able and rotatable through a small angle relative to said base frame. The actuator is mechanically connected only to the wicketer frame adjacent to said transverse rail.
