-21- APPARATUS FOR ANALYZING CELLS IN URINE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention relates to an apparatus for automatically analyzing cells in urine using flow cytometry. The present invention includes means for detecting scattered light and fluorescent light from individual cells in a urine specimen by flow cytometry, means for obtaining data indicative of scattered-light intensity and data indicating the number of peaks of scattered light from the fluorescent light, means for obtaining data indicative of fluorescent- light intensity from the fluorescent light, means for converting the scattered light into pulse signals, means for converting pulse width into cell-diameter data in accordance with known cell diameters, means for storing actual-measurement data indicating the characteristics of each cell in memory beforehand as cell judgement values, and means for classifying and enumerating various cells in the urine automatically by analyzing the data indicative of the detected cells in accordance with the cell judgement values.
