ABSTRACT APPARATUS FOR AND METHOD OF CUTTING JOINTS There is disclosed an apparatus (1) for machining at least one half of an interconnecting joint between the end regions of two components (A, B) comprising: a support (2); a carrier movable on and fixable with respect to the support (2) and having a first clamping means (4) for clamping to the carrier a first component (A) for machining of that component (A), and a second clamping means for clamping a second component (B), having a previously machined end profile, to the carrier (3) in a predetermined position to act as a template to enable the end region of the first component (A) to be machined to a profile capable of co-operating with the second component (B); and cutting means mounted on the support (2) for machining the end of the first component (A) to a profile capable of co-operating with the profile of the second component (B). Also disclosed is a method of machining at least one half of an interconnecting joint. The apparatus and method of the present invention are particularly useful for machining dovetail joints.
