ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an apparatus for and a method of generating heat by utilizing the Pons-Fleischmann effect. In a conventional apparatus of this kind, an anode and a cathode are dipped in an electrolyte, and an external power source is used for causing a current to flow between the anode and the cathode. In the present invention, a relation among the anode, the electrolyte and the cathode is made similar to that in a primary cell, and thus excess heat based upon the Pons-Fleischmann effect can be generated without using the external power source. Accordingly, the number of ports making up the apparatus is reduced.
