Abstract of the Disclosure An apparatus for wax emulsion treatment of lumber from a high-speed wood planing machine in which the lumber is uniformly coated with a minimum volume of emulsion. Principal components of the apparatus are a spray box with partially closed ends, conveyor means is the spray box to advance the lumber being treated, and an array of bayonet-type airless high-pressure spray nozzles in the spray box intermediate the ends and aimed gener- ally at the four corners of the lumber pieces. One or both end panels of the spray box preferably are hinged for knock-out when struck by a lumber piece, and the lower edges of the panels are sloped to prevent dripping of overspray wax emulsion on the lumber pieces passing thereunder. A recirculation system is capable of collecting, filtering and recirculating emulsion over- spray for continued respraying without emulsion destabilization.
