ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Conventional apparatuses for assembling printed circuit boards are somewhat complicated and not particularly user friendly. Such apparatuses utilize a plurality of slides or optical fibers for indicating the desired location of an element on the circuit board. A simpler apparatus includes a plurality of trays or drawers movably mounted in a casing, each tray carrying a plurality of containers for circuit board components. The trays can be inserted into the casing or removed for reloading. Each tray includes a cable conveyor carrying the containers and a motor for driving the conveyor to present the containers one at a time at an opening in the outer front end of the tray. A frame for carrying a circuit board is mounted on the front end of the tray close to the opening, and a movable light source is provided beneath the frame for lighting the openings in the circuit board. Computer hardware such as a disc drive is provided on one end of the casing for controlling movement of the containers on the tray, and consequently the components which are presented at the front opening in the tray.
