ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for attaching a withdrawal cord of a tampon in the form of a wound spiral, and in particular a tampon for female hygiene, to the withdrawal end thereof. The device comprises a centering mandrel which is movable coaxially to a cylindrical mold which is to receive the tampon. The mandrel is surrounded by an axially movable push-off ram for the withdrawal cord which is wound around the centering mandrel, the diameter of which is smaller than the clear diameter of the mold. The mold which, at the end away from the centering mandrel is associated with an abutment for the tampon, wherein the front end of the push-off ram is surrounded by a driver for the withdrawal cord. The driver is mounted in a driver carriage which is rotatable about the central longitudinal axis of the push-off ram. The driver carriage receives the push-off ram for parallel movement. The driver is provided, on its front face located at a distance from the mold, with a driving element, by means of which the withdrawal cord hangs down freely from the withdrawal end of the tampon present in the mold and can be gripped and wound up onto the centering mandrel and pressed, as a regular wound spiral, by the push-off ram against the withdrawal end of the tampon.
