Abstract: The present invention is directed to a device for braking articles to be conveyed on a conveyor. The device utilizes inflatable flexible tubes to temporarily stop the movement of the articles on the conveyor. It is part- icularly useful for articles such as paper packaging containing liquids. In a preferred embodiment the braking device not only stops the movement of the articles on the conveyor but also lifts the articles off the conveyor.
