ABSTRACT An apparatus requiring very little installed space for rapid cleaning of adhering residual plastic from the rotating elements e.g., the extruder worms, of machinery used for the production of plastic parts, consists of a heatable, tubular container into which the element to be cleaned can be inserted from one end. The tubular container contains an abrasive, dry powder or granulate filling. The element to be cleaned is clamped by one end in a holding means, typically a chuck, having a rotating drive and can be displaced in the direction of the axis of the tubular container by a displacement system so that the element to be cleaned can be rotated and can be inserted into and removed from the tubular container.
