ABSTRACT Apparatus for Cold-molding Structures In an apparatus for cold-molding a structure, it is a rigid framework inflexible to rapid design changes making short production runs of varying design expensive and leading to a one-off system of production. In this invention a totally new method of construction allows rapid and inexpensive design changes plus substantial labour cost reductions due to the potential application of automation and robotics to the apparatus. To a central axis of variable length supported at each end by telescopic legs are attached, by means of a collar configuration, adjustable arms and interchangeable plates that hold in place the sheet material to be cold-molded. The collars can be spaced at various intervals along the axis to accommodate variations in the dimensions of the sheet material to be cold-molded. The length of the axis determines the length of the structure that can be constructed. The length of the adjustable arms determines the height and width of the structure. The plates at the end of the arms can be interchanged to alter the shape of the structure and provide the framework to which the building material (veneers) are temporarily attached during the cold-molding process. A bearing at each end of the cylinder allows the apparatus to be rotated through 360° giving access to all surfaces of the work area from one position. This rotation is accomplished either manually or mechanically by means of a chain-sprocket- reduction gear configuration attached to the central axis.
