Apparatus and associated methods of using provide subterranean well completion wherein a lateral wellbore liner has divided a parent wellbore. In a preferred embodiment, a sidewall cutting apparatus is positionable within the liner and has a cutting tool which is radially outwardly extendable to cut an opening through the liner, thereby regaining access to a portion of the parent wellbore. An illustrated embodiment utilizes a telemetry-controlled lateral displacement mechanism to extend and retract the cutting tool.
Cette invention concerne un appareil et les méthodes associées permettant d'effectuer la complétion d'un puits lorsqu'une colonne perdue a divisé un puits principal. Dans une variante privilégiée, un appareil de coupe latérale pouvant être positionné dans la colonne perdue comporte un outil de coupe que l'on peut diriger radialement vers l'extérieur pour pratiquer une ouverture à travers la colonne perdue pour pouvoir réaccéder à une section du puits principal. Dans une réalisation illustrée, on utilise un mécanisme de déplacement latéral télécommandé pour faire avancer et reculer l'outil de coupe.
