A B S T R A C T APPARATUS FOR CONTACTING FLUID WITH PARTICULATE SOLID MATERIAL Apparatus for contacting fluid with particulate solid material provided with a contact space (2,3) and a separating section (16, 17, 18, 19) arranged at an angle with respect to the horizontal for the discharge of fluid from the contact space (2, 3) into a fluid collecting space (20, 21, 22, 23). To avoid pinning of solid material to the separating section (16, 17, 13, 19) means (25, 26, 27, 28) are provided for inducing a pressure gradient with the pressure decreasing in downward direction along the separating section (16, 17, 18, 19) during operation of the apparatus. Figure 1.
