IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO APPARATUS FOR CONTACTING LIQUIDS AND SOLIDS WITH LIQUIDS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification discloses apparatus for contacting liquids or a liquid with solids or a slurry. The contactor has a rotatable drum, a motor for rotating the drum and several axially spaced discs within the drum dividing the interior of the drum into a series of compartments which communicate through openings in the disc. Receptacles are located in the compartments and arranged to rotate with the drum to cause intermingling of the phase. This arrangement enables the drum to be mounted securely thus avoiding metal fatigue and avoids distortion of the two streams through the contactors.
