A B S T R A C T In an apparatus for casting metal between a pair of moving surfaces, at least one of which is a metal belt, the belt or belts is supported on a belt steering pulley having an outer metal shell which is expansible by the supply of pressurised liquid to one or more underlying liquid channels. The supply of liquid may be arranged so that the effective diameter of the belt steering pulley 031 one side of the middle of the pulley is changed in relation to the effective diameter on the other side of the middle of the pulley.
