- 14 - APPARATUS FOR CONTINUOUSLY MONITORING BLOOD GASES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for continuously monitoring blood gases, in which blood is continuously sucked from an external circulation circuit and ions and dissolved gases in blood are measured by using an electrochemical sensor. The apparatus comprises an electromagnetic valve circuit, a rotary changeover valve, a thermostat tank, and a microcomputer. The rotary changeover valve comprises a stator member having a bearing member arranged in a plane central portion, a plurality of flow paths arranged in a circle concentric with the periphery of the bearing member, leak-preventing seal members embedded in the flow paths, and a rotor member having flow paths corresponding to the flow paths of the stator member and forming conduits, and also having a mechanism rotated by a driving force of a motor or the like. Flow paths of five states of washing, preparation, calibration, measurement, and stopping are selectively formed by a combination of rotations of the rotor member, and on-line measurement of the ion pH value and the dissolved gas levels PCO2 and PO2 in the blood is continuously conducted without formation of thrombi in the flow paths and without interruption of the sampling of the blood.
