27025-16 ABSTRACT The apparatus for continuously producing ethanol from fermentable sugar solutions comprises a mixing and separating means equipped with rotating plates being inclined relative to the axis of rotation. The charged yeast is extracted from this means and subjected to a multi-stage fermentation within fermentation tubes. Within the fermentation tubes there are again arranged rotating plates which include with the axis, as seen in at least one axial section, angles differing from 90°. Within the fermentation tubes the ethanol is separated via the gaseous phase and the substrate is intensely reacted, noting that the pressure is stepwisely reduced in succeeding fermentation tubes.
