In accordance with the present invention there is provided an apparatus for conveying a web. The apparatus is able to continuously stretch the web or continuously release the stretching forces from a web in the cross-machine direction. The apparatus includes two pairs of opposing belts (21a, 22a, 31a 32a) wherein each belts travels along an endless path. The pairs of belts diverge or converge from each other in the cross-machine direction. Each pair of belts comprises an upper belts (22a, 32a) and a lower belt (21a, 31a) which are adjacent to each other. Each of the upper and lower belts has a non-planar outer surface which contacts the web. The non-planar outer surfaces of each upper belts continuously abuts the non-planar outer surface of its adjacent lower belts along a predetermined distance when traveling in the machine direction. This creates at least one nip for continuously gripping the web while it is being conveyed. The apparatus also includes a means for driving the belts so as to convey the web in the machine direction.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de transport d'un voile permettant d'étirer en continu le voile ou la détente en continu des forces d'extension s'appliquant à un voile perpendiculairement au sens machine. Le dispositif se compose de deux paires de courroies en vis-à-vis (21a, 22a, 31a, 32a), chaque courroie se déplaçant sur un chemin sans fin. Les paires de courroies divergent ou convergent l'une par rapport à l'autre selon un axe perpendiculaire au sens machine. Chaque paire de courroies se compose d'une courroie supérieure (22a, 32a) et d'une courroie inférieure (21a, 31a) adjacente. Chaque courroie, supérieure et inférieure, présente une surface externe non plane en contact avec le voile. Pendant le défilement dans la machine, la surface externe non plane de chaque courroie supérieure vient toucher, sur une longueur déterminée, la surface non plane de sa courroie inférieure respective. Cette configuration crée au moins un pincement permettant de saisir en continu le voile pendant son défilement. Le dispositif comporte également un moyen assurant l'entraînement des courroies faisant défiler le voile dans le sens machine.
