ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A heating cooking apparatus utilizes a sensor of the type used in a conventional heating cooking apparatus. The change in the resistance of the sensor due to a temperature change is converted to a level representing the corresponding voltage change and this sensor level is utilized along with a level corresponding to a preset temperature or a temperature control level so selected that a heat source is turned on when the sensor level is less than this level and the heat source is turned off when this level is exceeded so as to eliminate the occurrence of overshoot irrespective of the presence or absence of preheating, that is, at various starting temperatures as well as in various operating conditions including one where a door is opened during the cooking and another where the cooking is interrupted due to an erroneous operation, thereby ensuring the best cooking result.
