ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cylindrical member in linear motion passes through a tubular conduit. An envelope surrounds the tubular conduit and forms therewith an annular chamber, closed at its ends by an upstream wall and a downstream wall respectively. Cooling agent is introduced into the annular chamber. The tubular conduit is pierced by a plurality of straight passages providing communication between annular chamber and the internal space of the tubular conduit. These passages are located in plane rings perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tubular conduit. They are equally spaced within each ring, and each ring of passages is angularly displaced with respect to the next. Cooling agent is drained from the internal space of the tubular conduit.
