APPARATUS FOR CUTTING HARD EARTH FORMATIONS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The chain link conveyor assembly of an earth cutting machine is provided with means for mounting the conical cutting bits at a penetration angle on the range of 47° to 53°, and a sideward angle in the range of 3° to 12°. Even bit wear is best promoted at penetration and sideward angles of 50° and 7-1/2°, respectively.
