ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus being able to perform clean and regular cuts and having nominal space requirements on three sides of the string is characterized in that the saw blade is mounted on a lever extending substantially at a right angle to the string sub- stantially where the cutting is to be performed and pivotable around an axle perpendicular to the string, which lever comprises gripping means for holding lever unmovable with respect to the string, the transmission being displaceable with respect to the lever to provide the feeding of the blade. The apparatus is used for cutting strings of frozen food being extruded simultaneously at an acute angle with respect to the axis of the extruder by arranging one apparatus at each string, the apparatuses thus forming a circle.
