In an apparatus for cutting to length strip material, e.g. pastry strips or the like, which is continuously supplied to the apparatus, which is a knife positioned transversely to the strip material conveying direction and defining a cutting area, and a timed raisable and lowerable cutting mechanism cooperating with the knife, the cutting mechanism is a cutting band, whose length is greater than the cutting area and which is movable at right angles to the strip material conveying direction.
