ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides an air condi- tioner comprising at the blowout port a vertically deflecting vane and a group of the laterally deflecting vanes for respectively vertically and laterally deflecting the wind blown out from the blowout port of the air conditioner, wherein the group of the laterally deflecting vanes is partitioned with respect to the center of the blowout port into the rightwardly deflect- ing vane and the leftwardly deflecting vane, so that this rightwardly deflecting vane and the leftwardly deflecting vane can be individually operated, and, further, a drive means is controllably provided for individually driving said vertically deflecting vane and the group of the laterally deflecting vanes, so that the wind blown out from said blowout port due to the temper- ature within the space at the air-conditioned side such as the indoor temperature or the like or the temperature at the side of the heat source such as the blowout temperature may be set to a mode in which it is laterally split in the horizontal (upward) direction, mode in which it is concentrated to the side of the front surface in the horizontal (or upward) direction, mode in which it is laterally split in the downward direction, and a mode in which it is concentrated to the side of the front surface in the downward direction. When the above-described blower modes are individually or combinedly used, the desired air-conditioning effect can be achieved by cooling or heating from the surroundings within the room, or from the central portion of the room, or, further by their combination.
