ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to an apparatus for demolishing a reactor shield wall. The apparatus has a pillar extending from the top side of the reactor toward the bottom of the reactor, an upper support device for supporting the upper portion of the pillar at the top side of the reactor, and cutting devices mounted to the pillar so as to be upwardly and downwardly movable along the pillar. The pillar is swingably supported by the support device. The upper support device has swing drive devices for swinging the pillar. The cutting devices are caused to swing in the reactor interior by swinging the pillar. The swing drive devices are disposed at the top side of the reactor, and this permits easy maintenance and inspection.
