ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for detecting arrhythmias in an electrocardiogram signal by evaluating the time interval between signals which are consecutive in time and which are characteristic for a heartbeat, including a circuit for producing pulses at a frequency which follows the actual heart frequency and which is a multiple thereof and with a time constant, and a gating circuit which emits a signal indicating an arrhythmia if before the nth pulse produced after the last heartbeat a further such characteristic signal appears, where n is smaller than the multiple.
