ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a system for detecting faults in a glass bottle, the bottle to be inspected is placed in a path of a diffused light. A circular polarizer including a plane polarazing plate in combination with a 1/4 wave plate is disposed on the side of the source of diffused light. After passing through the bottle, the light is projected by a lens through a second circular polari- zer including a plane polarizing plate in combination with a 1/4 wave plate onto a photoelectric detector. The output signal of the photoelectric detector is subjected to analog signal pro- cessing.
