A B S T R A C T: The presence of a magnetic rolled metal product moving longitudinally past a sensor, comprising an oscillatory circuit whose resonance frequency depends on the presence or absence of the product, is detected by measuring the resonance frequency or variation in the resonance frequency. An oscillator produces a square- wave signal having the resonance frequency. The signal is filtered and converted into a signal whose voltage is a function of the frequency. The latter signal is compared with a reference signal.
