The invention relates an apparatus for determination of at least one interface of a slag layer on top of a molten metal, the apparatus having a carrier tube, on whose one end a measuring head is arranged with a body fixed within the carrier tube, which body has its end face facing away from the carrier tube. The apparatus comprises an oscillator arranged within the measuring head and an induction coil connected with the oscillator and arranged outside of the body and in front of its end face.
