An apparatus and method for die cutting a pre-formed foam container from a sheet of plastic foam materials are disclosed in which the sheet is positioned and clamped between a movable platen and a stationary platen. The movable platen carries a die blade which cuts the container from the sheet, said cut being initiated at the upper surface of the container rim and finishing at the undersurface of the rim to provide the upper surface edge of the rim as a relatively smooth rounded edge. Whatever burrs are created by the cut are found on the undersurface edge of the rim. Upon completion of the cutting procedure, an ejector plate supported on the movable platen is moved to a protracted position to strip the cut container away from the die blade and displace the cut container into a chute of the stationary platen for passage therethrough.

Selon cette méthode, la feuille est placée et fixée entre une plaque mobile et une plaque fixe.
