A nozzle or tube (1) is useful for pouring molten metal, especially aluminum killed molten steel. The nozzle (1) is formed from a blend of doloma and graphite which is bonded together in a carbonized matrix. Nozzles or tubes (1) made in accordance with this invention have enhanced thermal shock resistance. Furthermore, nozzles or tubes (1) of this invention resist the formation of aluminum oxide therein when they are used for pouring aluminum killed steel. Consequently, these tubes or nozzles (1) can be used in a continuous casting process for a long period of time without having to periodically stop the procedure and change the tubes (1) as they become blocked with aluminum oxide. As a result of the thermal shock resistance, the usual preheating step prior to contacting the nozzle (1) with the molten metal is greatly reduced.
On utilise une buse ou un tube (1) pour verser du métal en fusion, notamment de l'acier en fusion calmé à l'aluminium. On a réalisé cette buse (1) à partir d'un mélange de dolomie calcinée et de graphite que l'on a liés ensemble dans une matrice carbonisée. Les buses ou tubes (1) réalisés selon l'invention possèdent une résistance supérieure aux chocs thermiques ainsi que, de surcroît, une résistance à la formation d'oxyde d'aluminium sur l'intérieur des buses ou tubes, lorsqu'on les utilise pour verser de l'acier calmé à l'aluminium. En conséquence, on peut utiliser ces tubes ou buses (1) dans un procédé de coulage en continu, pendant une longue période, sans avoir à arrêter régulièrement l'opération de coulage pour changer les tubes (1) lorsque ceux-ci sont bouchés par l'oxyde d'aluminium. Grâce à la résistance aux chocs thermiques de cette buse (1), on réduit grandement la durée de l'étape habituelle de préchauffage, préalable à la mise en contact du métal en fusion avec ladite buse.
