An apparatus for disentangling snood-line fish hooks from the main line comprising a channel, means to pull the main line through the channel, hook orientation means, a first and second hook deflection means and a track for orderly stacking of the fish hooks. The main line is drawn along the channel and entangled hooks are deflected resulting in their disentanglement from the main line. The channel is comprised of two segments. The first segment, which harbours the orientation means, has a spring loaded, releasable upper plate which allows passage of smaller knots but which releases in the event of excessive strain. The second segment, which harbours the first hook deflection means, is expandable and is similarly adapted to expose the channel in the event of excessive strain. The inventions also includes means allowing for displacement of components of the hook orientation means and the hook deflection means by fixtures and appendages of the main line so as to further reduce damage and wear to apparatus and longline gear.
