A distance measuring device wherein a reference unit is juxtaposed with a continuous wave radar. The reference unit comprises a surface wave element for generating a signal delayed relative to the transmission signal. A mixed signal is formed from the delayed signal and the transmission signal with a mixer, this mixed signal being utilized in combination with the measured signal stemming from the continuous wave radar for determining the distance.

Afin d'améliorer la précision des mesures, une unité de référence (REF) est adjointe à un radar à ondes entretenues (DSR). Cette unité de référence (REF) comporte un élément à ondes de surface (OWF) qui produit un signal décalé dans le temps par rapport au signal émis.
