ABSTRACT An apparatus has a duct in which there is disposed a pressure- monitoring device and a pump driven by a motor. A monitoring and control unit monitors the volume of fluid that has passed through the duct and deter- mines a required pressure as a function of that volume of fluid. The monitor- ing and control unit compares the required pressure with the actual pressure and controls the motor and hence the pump so that the actual pressure is sub- stantially equal to the required pressure.
