- 17 - APPARATUS FOR ELECTRON BEAM IRRADIATION OF OBJECTS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is an apparatus for electron beam irradia- tion of objects wherein an electron accelerator is arranged so that its axis is parallel to the plane of a frame of the magnetic circuit of a deflecting electromagnet which is lo- cated before an exit window of a sweep vacuum chamber to direct the electron beam onto an irradiated object substan- tially at a right angle. The sweeping electromagnet compri- ses a biasing winding fed by a direct current to direct the electron beam into an aperture of the deflecting electro- magnet, the sweep current generator being provided with a corrective network to decrease the rate of variation of current in a scanning winding of the sweeping electromagnet as the electron beam moves toward the edge of the deflect- ing electromagnet far removed from the accelerator, and to increase the rate of variation of current in the scanning winding of the sweeping electromagnet as the electron beam moves in opposite direction.
