A magnetomechanical EAS tag (10) having a bias magnet (18) made of a high magnetostrictive material so that stress, which is a result of ordinary use of an article (12) incorporating the tag, demagnetises the bias rending the EAS tag inactive is provided. In an alternate embodiment a mechanical mechanism is incorporated with a conventional EAS tag to deactivate the tag upon ordinary use of an article to which the tag is associated. In yet another embodiment, a combination of the bias magnet made of a high magnetostrictive material and a mechanical deactivation mechanism is used to deactivate the EAS tag during ordinary use of an article to which the tag is associated.
L'invention concerne une étiquette magnétomécanique EAS (10) pourvue d'un aimant (18) de polarisation fait d'un matériau hautement magnétostrictif permettant aux contraintes résultant de l'utilisation normale d'un article (12) incorporant l'étiquette de démagnétiser la polarisation rendant l'étiquette EAS inactive. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, un mécanisme mécanique est incorporé à une étiquette EAS classique afin de désactiver l'étiquette lors de l'utilisation de l'article auquel l'étiquette est associée. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, on utilise la combinaison de l'aimant de polarisation fait d'un matériau hautement magnétostrictif et d'un mécanisme de désactivation mécanique pour désactiver l'étiquette EAS pendant l'utilisation normale d'un article auquel l'étiquette est associée.
